UPDATE ON LIBRARY SERVICE DURING COVID-19
CURBSIDE PICKUP AVAILABLE (LAST UPDATE 06/14/2020. )
Great news! While we DO NOT have a date for the library building to reopen, Governor Murphy announced that libraries MAY START CURBSIDE PICKUP.Our library staff are working hard and quickly preparing this new service for you. To ensure your health and safety as well as the staff’s, the Library will follow a phased reopening plan beginning with limited on-site staff and limited hours.(Please find hour information on the right side of this webpage.)
--CURBSIDE PICKUP. You may start placing hold beginning this Monday, June 15 on books, DVDs,and CDs by emailing to firstname.lastname@example.org or logging into your online account or calling the library during staffed hours. The date for the first pickup will be Wednesday, June 17th. If you need help with your online account, please contact us. After your materials are put aside for you, you will get a notification from us. The curbside pickup hours at this time will be 1:00pm -5:00 pm Monday and Wednesday, and 10:00am -2:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday.
--BOOK RETURN. You may return library items to the Bookdrop in front of the library. Our staff will collect them on a daily basis .
--BOOK QUARANTINE.For health and safety, all returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours before they are available for check out again.
--NEW CARD REGISTRATION.If you are a Gloucester City resident but do not have a library card, you can get a virtual library card by providing us with your name, address, email, and phone number. Once the Library reopens, the virtual card must be replaced by a regular library card with your proof of residency.
--CARD RENEWAL. Recent expired cards and soon-to-expire cards have already been extended July 31,2020. Those who had a library card with us in the past and the card had expired, please email us at email@example.com, and we can help you get temporary access as well. You may renew your card after the library re-opens.
--OVERDUE FINES AND OVERDUE ITEMS. Overdue fines during the building closure are waived. Cards with previous unpaid balances will still be able to check out library materials but with some limits. Please return your overdue items to the Bookdrop
--MEETING ROOM. The Library is offering a Virtual Meeting Room free of charge to library cardholders! This service is available to nonprofit groups to meet up to twice per week. The Virtual Meeting Room can be reserved for up to two hours.
--VIRTUAL PROGRAMS. We continue to offer virtual programs including Storytime on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Makerspace on Mondays, Crafternoon on Tuesdays, and GED class on Fridays.
--DIGITAL RESOURCES. You can enjoy e-books/audiobooks, movies, music via our digital resources such as Hoopla, TumbleBooks and Overdrive. Please download Hoopla for Hoopla Digital and Libby for Overdrive from App store, and register using your library card. If you need assistance on using the apps or forget your library PIN number to log on, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

--Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi signals are available 24/7 as always.

Seeking GHS, and GCHS Yearbooks
In order to start a yearbook digitalization project, Gloucester City Library is calling for the donation or lending of Gloucester City High School (GHS) and Gloucester Catholic High School (GCHS) yearbooks to complete its current yearbook collection. This project aims to make the entire local yearbook collection available in digital format and eventually available online to the public.
GHS - 1937, 1939-1941, 1944, 1945, and all years prior to 1935.
GCHS - 1942-1947, 1953, 1955, 1959-1961, 1965, 1966, 1976, 1982, 1988, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, and all years prior to 1941.
