Friday favorites

Happy Friday!

Today marks 6 weeks since my total knee replacement. A few of you have asked how I am doing so here goes.

I am bored out of my mind.

Not that there isn't plenty to do, it's just that I can't be on my feet for more than 20-30 minutes, which makes it really hard to get anything done. Small tasks wear me out, and I am not one to sit around. This is going to be a long road ahead. Good thing it is summer and I can sit outside with a book, or take a nap on the deck.

Good thing I also have this blog to keep me busy, so thank you for supporting it by coming back here and seeing what's new every week!

Here are some favorite things I found for this weeks Friday favorites.

Definitely would love to have this on my hand.

I could live in this this summer, paired with flip flops or wedges.

I am surprised that this rug is an indoor/outdoor one. If it truly is made for outdoors it really is a spectacular look.

One of my favorite coffee tables is on sale.

Love these inexpensive earrings.

Such a fun sweater tank.

From the same brand are these cute jeans and this cute dress.

I have been burning these candles nonstop.

And trust me, you will want to clean when you smell this cleaner!

This is going to be such a great space, I am a little jealous.

And I am going to leave you with this fun picture of Fourth of July decor from my Pinterest board.

create a cozy hammock oasis

Summers growing up consisted of me taking naps and reading books in our hammock under a big old oak tree.

I have so many memories of ducking out of the house and laying there in the shade and feeling like I was in my own little world. Curling up with a blanket as the sun went down, and just feeling so cozy.

We recently visited my sister and she had a new hammock in her backyard that our son Cody fell in love with. He stayed in it for hours as we visited and had a bonfire.

Now I am certain we need to create a little spot for a hammock of our own, our own little cozy hammock oasis.

I found this one which is similar to the one we had growing up. I don't think we have a good spot to hang one from trees, so I think we will need to get the stand that comes with it.

I am thinking near our fire pit would be a great spot. Tucked back in by the woods where it's nice and quiet and serene.

I've been looking at hammock pictures on Pinterest which is really getting me excited.

Do you have a hammock and do you love it?

I love this one from Anthropologie but I am afraid it would get to dirty where we live.

I will keep you updated if we get one, which I am pretty certain we will :)

our outdoor kitchen

Hello and welcome!

Today I am excited to share with you what we call our outdoor kitchen.
I suppose it isn't really a kitchen because it doesn't have a sink, but it does have a refrigerator and a bbq as well as our smoker.

It sits tucked in a corner in our backyard right off the deck. You can catch a glimpse of it in the photo below.

We built it several years ago because we really wanted a covered area that we could enjoy year round.

We just recently installed heaters, so with the flick of a switch, the space heats up nicely. We love watching football out here in the fall, but it can get a bit cold late in the season.

We have a sofa and 2 large chairs as well as barstools.
You can see the tv from all angles.
Actually you can see the tv from the hot tub on our deck and sometimes will watch shows while soaking!

Simple and neutral sunbrella pillows make this space feel comfy and cozy.

We love to entertain and this space has been so much fun to have when we are having parties.

If you are interested in seeing the post on how we built it, click here.

The newest addition to our outdoor kitchen space is this great modern fan with LED light by Hunter Fan Company.

Our previous fan was not an outdoor one and it was a big mistake because it got mildewed and was not very  pretty after a short time.

This one is much more modern and I think it fits the space perfectly!
It is made of die-cast aluminum in the build. This fan is a part of their WeatherMax collection, being wet rated and corrosion and salt-air resistant which makes it great for any outdoor space.
Their SureSpeed Guarantee cools at an optimal speed. I love that I will never have to worry about this getting damaged due to weather.

This week, some of my blogging friends and I are sharing our summer outdoor spaces.Just click on the links below the images to be taken to see their full posts.

DIY vanilla brown sugar lip scrub

I've always wanted to try making a lip scrub and I am so glad I did!

It is so easy and smells and feels amazing on your lips.

I decided to make a vanilla sugar scrub because I love that scent and I had everything on hand to make it.

In a small bowl combine 1 Tablespoon brown sugar, 1 teaspoon coconut oil, 1 teaspoon honey, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 Tablespoon sugar. Mix well.

If you need to, you can double the recipe.

I used these little cosmetic containers and my old school label maker.

Let me know if you try this, I'd love to see if you love it too!

Friday favorites

Since there was no Friday favorites last week, we have a lot to catch up on!

I have a lot to share. As a reminder, to take you to the items linked, just click on the bold type word.

Just bought this cute little swim suit cover up. Starting to think about summer even though it's rainy and gloomy here.

This nightstand sold by Target has such a high end look. I can't decide which color I like better!

This is a fun game for summer gatherings.

This is a new to me Instagram account that I love.

I get a lot of questions on our living room chandelier. You can order it many places, but this is the cheapest I have found it.

I just purchased an old wood ladder that I am going to hang extra blankets from. I don't even have it yet but I purchased 2 cute blankets for it in anticipation.

I bought this one and this one. Aren't they cute?

My inspiration came from this photo by Wilsons and Co.

Awaiting these shoes from Amazon.

And these heels which a friend promises me are the most comfortable ones ever. I won't be able to wear them for a while since my knee surgery, but it's something to look forward too.

I must be on a shoe kick because I also bought these sneakers.

These jeans arrived and they are super cute and comfortable. I love a good stretchy jean.

Found this in my daughters makeup bag and after using it bought one for myself. It works so well and is so inexpensive!

Well that's all I've got for you for this weeks Friday favorites! I hope you have a great weekend!

xoxo, Melaine
